Playing in Great American Small Park definitely helps with their power stats but an average-sized ballpark their power and HR numbers would be much lower.

Only two teams have scored less runs than this team, with the lowest BA. Not sure its really that big of a stretch to say worst hitting team.

Absolutely. If they don’t hit HRs they don’t score.
Yes that was a very impressive infield single. I thought for a second it was leaving the yard. - texasdave 10/13/12

Wait, huh? Did you say “even worse than the 2010 offense” as if to imply that offense wasn’t good?

I mean, they clearly weren’t the best... but that was Votto’s MVP season, Phillips in his prime, Bruce coming into his own, Stubbs’ career year, a serviceable Jonny Gomes and Scott Rolen’s final solid year at the dish. They even had a decent hitting catcher tandem with Hanigan and Ramon Hernandez.

They had their issues, but that 2010 offense was good and The Reds would probably have a playoff spot locked up this year with a carbon copy of those guys, from that year, on this team.

Nats walk it off for extra-inning win in Game 2. Phillies drop both games today.

Wow, Phillies in a tailspin. That helps. Marlins losing as well.

Reds still need to win tomorrow.

Win tomorrow night and all will be well in Reds Country.

3-1 in the last 4 should get us in. 2-2 we'll be sweating a bit. 1-3 or 0-4 and we'll be going home.

If season ended right now, wouldn't the NL Central have 4 teams in the playoffs? I'm predicting that's how the season ends.

I did not expect the Phillies to fall out of the top 8.

Not many did. On paper, they looked like a sure thing to at least take a WC spot.

If both the Phils and Reds miss the postseason, I wonder which team will be considered a bigger surprise.

Obviously can't pin it on him really, but remember who their pitching coach is.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
