I just wish the White Sox and Twins were not so tight in their race....thus those final games meaning less to the Twins.

Just have to remember that all these teams vying for final playoff spots are about .500.
That means they all lose about half the time.
Nobody is running the table, just try to win and look at the standings on Sunday night.
Of course the Pirates are hitting walk-off bombs to beat the Cubs now that they’re not playing the Cards anymore.

Rounding third and heading for home...

Since if the season ended right now, NLC would have 4 teams in the playoffs, I believe Reds have to split their final 4 games to get in. Winning tomorrow would certainly be almost a sure lock into the playoffs and whoever loses, will have to go at least 2-1 the rest of the way. But, if the NLC gets 4 teams in the playoffs, it'll be for one reason and that is that the 5th team is the Pirates.

Reds HAVE to win tomorrow. Twins are in the race for first and 21-5 at home.

It's really astounding that the entire offense decided to have career years this season. And not the good kind of career year. Of the eight regular starters, all their current BAs would represent their career worsts with only one exception: Galvis hit .176 in 2014 (currently at .209).

True it's still not great but, as you yourself admitted, the run production has improved.
At the end of a 162 game season the disappointment would've ended up looking like an average offense. What's most important is that they're playing better in Sept, the chances of winning games in the postseason, and what to expect next season.
It’s frustrating because now that the bullpen has settled into a much better place, our pitching is good enough to win the World Series. If the offense was just average we would likely be right behind Dodgers as favorites in the NL. But because the offense is abysmal we are clinging to a playoff lifeboat. We are still dangerous if we get in because we all know any teams’ bats can get hot in a short burst, but it sure is disappointing and frustrating to see how inept we’ve been at the plate this year.
