What's actually pathetic is that they kept him at 1B even with the DH.

    Brutal.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

    9-4-20 Reds vs.Pirates Game 2

Votto stretches too soon (does that fairly often)

My biggest problem with the play was he lapsed on knowing where his 2nd baseman was. When he plays that far off he has to know where his 2nd baseman is....he took a step and a half after a ball he had no chance at and being not very athletic in his older age struggled to get to bag.

So far this year Votto is the worst defensive first baseman I can remember that plays every day. He’s been very bad. He would agree 100%.

I couldn't see it on the Pirate telecast, but it looked to me like Tucker when he was about to grab the ball he looked up to see the runner and may have failed in his grab and thus couldn't make a throw.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a 1B at the MLB level just miss a ball and like you said, today isn’t the first time this year.

    OK the inning is over.
Shake it off and regain the lead.

What was goodwin doing? No hustle on the hayes single up the middle gave the runner from first an easy third. Then gave up a trip while apparently playing on a slip an slide. That hit held to a double would not have scored on the wild pitch.

Votto's error was bad (and costly) but some of you are acting like it was the worst error ever made in MLB history. Come on...

I wouldn't assume that. Winker has played exactly 0 games at 1B in his entire professional career.

No matter how "easy" some fans think 1B is, it takes some time to learn the nuances of the position. After all, other than the P and the C, the 1B handles the ball more than any other player.

yeah, to see that once in a season from a MLB first baseman is weird. we just saw it twice in the same day.

    he's so washed up.

this should have been an easy sweep. instead, the reds are now somehow trailing in this game.

They said the same about Winker and LF. Some say it about Castellanos and RF. Some feel Moustakas is better as a corner IF.

    It’s too much.

Send JFLegal out to the pasture.

    Reasonable points.

But beating a dead horse and a personality nobody likes.

It was a problem at the end of last year and they went out and made it worse. Would be fine if offensive improvement offset it, but it obviously hasn't (yet...hopefully).

Bauer was slow off of the mound so I don’t think it mattered
