    Dante Bichette
    Bill Doran
    Every day Eddie Guardado

Does Scooter count? (it was the end of his career apparently and he was great for 2 years)

Well, from some of the responses, it's not limited to players retiring as Reds so Denis Menke should be on this list.

    Good one!

For some reason, I always get Chick Hafey and Kiki Cuyler blurred with each other.

Another name the Reds got near the end of his career - Billy Martin.

While the Reds didn't acquire him at the end of his career -- he later successfully assumed a role as a reliever -- Woodie Fryman was past his prime once Howsam consumated that awful December '76 deal with the Expos.

Sadly, Hoernor - of whom I have no recollection of as an effective pitcher, as I was too young to follow MLB at the time - was later tragically killed in a farming accident. But unfortunately, yes, he was awful in '77.
