    Glad they called up Stephenson.

Probably don't want him facing Darvish as his first start. Might be smart.

    I didn't just say that did I?

It's probably some other crazy reason.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Darvish pitching. 62 degrees. Wind blowing in off the lake. Reds will score 8.

Curt Casali, the right-handed half of the platoon, is slashing: .379/.574/.926. Are they going to sit Casali for Stephenson?

José De León, a Puerto Rican, will join Michael Lorenzen in wearing #21 tonight for Roberto Clemente Day. Lorenzen already wears #21 to honor Clemente.

De León on knowing he'd wear #21 today: "I've never been so excited to come to a clubhouse since WBC. I was nervous. I was anxious to get on the bus and get here. It was really emotional, man."

it will be his first time ever wearing #21 because it's a sacred number in Puerto Rico. He hopes MLB retires the number.

Yes, he's the real deal. Cubs signed a ringer in Darvish. For the Reds to have a chance the score has to remain low and at some point get into the Cubs bullpen. Can't afford dumb mistakes in the field and need to capitalize when the Reds have a chance to score.

So, in other words, we have no chance.

Hopefully our top five will be able to beat that 1-17 showing they had last night.

Barnhart should be benched and let Casali and Stephenson be the catchers. At this point R/L matchups don’t matter. If Stephenson is going to be able to make it in MLB he will have to hit from both sides.

Reds had a much better chance last night vs Mills and didn't score.

With only 18 games left, the Reds are pretty much in a must win 14 or 15 of those to stand a chance at a Playoff spot. You can thank the great David Bell, Dick Williams, & Nick Krall for that. Personally, I wish all 3 could attend some sort of Tampa Rays seminar on how to operate a baseball franchise. All 3 would benefit greatly. Somehow, not only does Tampa compete every season...but somehow they manage to have the #1 farm system in MLB also. It wouldn’t hurt to ask Billy Beane a few pointers either. Meanwhile, we are just stuck with what we got.
From not having Aquino an everyday starter from day 1, to playing Travis Jokeski, Farmer, Davidson, and the like over him. There are too many mistakes to even keep count.
Let’s see if talent alone can push us this last 18 games. I doubt it, but we can hope.
Let’s get this dumpster fire started!

I hope Tyler gets an at bat tonight but I can see starting Tucker.
He’s 4-12 off Darvish with a dinger career.

Today is Roberto Clemente day. My neighbor and good friend Al Oliver played with Clemente on a world title team in 1971. His admiration for Clemente is incredible. He also performed the eulogy for Mrs Clemente. What a great player and great man Clemente was. There has been discussion of retiring number 21 for every team in MLB like they did number 42 with Jackie Robinson. I do not support this.
