If Bell's still around for 2021, I imagine he'll be fighting tooth and nail to keep Tucker because he bats from the left side. That's part of why I think Bell has to go. His obsession with handedness goes too far and has probably cost the Reds a few wins. Sometimes a righty batter needs to face a righty or a lefty batter needs to face a lefty because they're simply the best option.

Casali is connected with Johnson. I'd imagine that handling of the staff would be in his favor and I think he's a solid defender. Make the move and hand it to Stephenson with Casali as a clear 35% of the time tandem guy. Barnhart as the incumbent "starter" waiting in the wings just adds pressure Stephenson doesn't need.

I think he'll make a bit less than $4.6MM, and there's another year of control for the Reds to keep or trade him. And he's better.
I'm sort of tired of the "he keeps the pitchers happy" refrain with Tucker. I'm just not buying it. Sure he's been a leader, but how much can you truly lead when your bat ends in an out more than any other guy on the team and you're sent back to the dugout cursing every 3 innings?

How much of a leader is he? The complaint I keep hearing is that the team isn't ready to play. Leadership is supposed to address that. He might be a decent leader. It really isn't helping anything though.

Johnson is the guy handling the pitching staff and Casali is the guy he wanted. I see no evidence that Barnhart is better at handling the pitchers than Casali. I also don't see evidence that he's better otherwise defensively. Its reputation based on what exactly? Because Barnhart came up through the system and is familiar??
Barnhart is alright, but if I could only keep one (and they should only keep one), I'd keep Casali.

Curt Casali has an OPS near 900.
I fail to see why anyone would want to get rid of him in any capacity.
