    Epic songs

What are some songs you all consider to be "epic"?

    A few of mine:

    November Rain - GNR
    The End - The Doors
Pull Me Under - Dream Theater
    Achilles Last Stand - Zeppelin
    The Odyssey - Symphony X

I'll also add Hendrix performing The Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock, even though that's just a few minutes long.

Expand on what makes a Song "Epic." I think all the ones listed are, but there are a lot of great song that might not be considered Epic I suppose. I'll throw out a safe one and say Bohemian Rhapsody.

Chambers Brothers - Time has come today.

I agree with Achilles Last Stand. My favorite Zeppelin song.

Springsteen is not epic. Springsteen is a great performer and an soulful empathic man, but that is different from epic.
Wagner, Mahler, Beethoven, Sibelius, Bruckner are epic.
If I had to pick one piece - Also sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss.
Close second: 3rd movement of Beethoven’s string quartet in A minor, Op. 132 - titled “Holy song of thanks to the godhead from a convalescent, in the Lydian mode”. He wrote this masterpiece without ever hearing the notes. He was deaf. It is the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth in1770.

Beethoven's 9th Symphony ranks up there with me as somewhat epic.

I prefer the music of the Ainur, although I'm not sure Melkor's contributions were as damaging as many think.

Yes but is a symphony a song?

A symphony can contain a song, many songs, or none. It depends on the composer. In this case, the 9th contains one of the most famous songs in the world, the “ode to joy” that is the European union’s theme.

    LOL

Nobody asked about what sort of men people were.

According to you, Springsteen is a great performer and "empathic" man, but he isn't epic.

That wasn't the question. The question was epic songs.

And Born to Run and Thunder Road are epic songs.

Looking down your nose at things like popular or rock music and comparing them to Wagner and Beethoven- get a life.
