I can't speak for Betterread but he's using some of the codewords I'm sure Springsteen haters like to use. (Oh I know Betterread did praise him a bit)

    "Fell for it"
    "Pretense"
    "Mock-Operatic"

Look, Bruce writes about the working man despite having never "worked" a day in his life. He acknowledges that fact and winks at you about it if you pay attention. But that doesn't take away from the fact that he writes great songs. However, some people put those few things together and label him a "fake" and just can't get past it.

And Dom knows more about music and musical history on here than just about anyone.

There has been progress in places but, yikes, can it be disheartening to be reminded that we’ve had the same problems, spoke out about the same problems, and produced art calling out the same problems since what seems like the beginning of time in this country.

I'd like to add this to the list of Springsteen epics. This one moves me.

Arise and walk, come through. A world beyond that door is calling out for you. Arise and walk, come through. It's calling out for you.

    'tis the season.

It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.
