Sonny Gray to the IL; Romano selected

    https://twitter.com/Reds/status/1305...658676227?s=19

The #Reds today selected from the taxi squad the contract of RHP Sal Romano and placed on the 10-day injured list, retro to Friday, RHP Sonny Gray (right mid-back strain). https://t.co/MfiOXNPb33

Not surprising at all with Sonny after those last two starts and the layoff in between, but still hate to see it.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Whatever slim chance the Reds had just went out the back door.

So the Reds finally make it official that Sonny's season is done.

I guess a press release to state the obvious had to come at some point, given his day in the rotation was coming up

This should require a 40 man roster move. I wonder about DeLeon.

Edit maybe the Davidson move out is at 39

Well this wraps it up. Whatever very slim hope remained is now gone. Such a disappointing season. Good team on paper that didn't translate to the field. And with Bauer and Castellanos likely gone, not much to look forward to short term.

Castellanos is hitting .231. Unless he goes on a tear the next two weeks, I really don't think he is going to walk away from almost 50 million guaranteed to test the market again.

A better market last year didn't give Castellanos what he wanted.

This go around he has a .232 average, terrible defense (with an unwillingness to DH), and an additional year to tack onto his resume. After a season where there was no ticket revenue.

And after an 0 for 7 today, now hitting .222. Nick fans needn't worry; he ain't going nowhere.
