We're seeing that with a number of guys. Votto, Suarez and Barnhart are heating up too. Functionally, it's mid-May. Guys who were off their games are making adjustments and finding a groove.

Exactly. Yeah, I know, he's making his money; but he and his family are most likely going through some culture shock being in a different country and culture. Let alone having to deal with all that's going on with covid in this country.

I cut him slack. Watching him, he knows how to hit.

Funny thing is it sounds like his improvement began when he decided to ignore this coaching staff's advice and just do what he'd normally do.

Yep that was my point as well.

And it makes you wonder about other slumping guys too.

Moral of the story is do what you're comfortable doing. Results are the only thing that matter.

I’ve been saying it for a while. The hitting coach is the main problem on this staff.

For Shogo the only stat that matters to me is OBP and he's currently 2nd on the team behind Winker @ .358. If Billy Hamilton could OBP .350+ he might still be a Red.

Agreed. Power is immaterial for Shogo. Frustrate pitchers and get on base.

If Billy Hamilton had a career .350+ OBP, he'd have been a perennial All-Star.

Again, Shogo leads off. Every game.

I dont think its a coincidence that when Akiyama started heating up, so did the Reds. Dude puts in work every at bat.

Oh and have I mentioned his defense is stellar (especially in the corner)?

Totally agree. he's a proper leadoff man and he is worth his weight in gold to this offense.
