Didn’t he beat up a fan once, though? Or was that just another tall tale.
No he beat up a fan (he was missing a hand and fingers). But apparently back then this was a far more common occurrence. Babe Ruth also assaulted a fan, for example.

And as far as his views on race, it seems like the most of those were completely made up. Considering the time period in which he was raised and the fact that he came from Georgia, one could almost call him progressive.

I like the series pitching set up.

They’ll need someone to back up Lorenzen Sunday, I’d guess Sims.

    Antone at 42 pitches.

Cards threatening against Pirates. Could be a doubleheader sweep. Bases loaded on walks and catcher’s interference.

    His body just failed him.
That guy was on his way to having solid career. Made All Star team iirc. Damn shame his shoulders and hips went.

Yep, I thought to myself “holy crap we have the next great hitting catcher” in 2014.

    And then, sigh...

Being in contention for the playoffs in September is a blast. Make you eager for each game and scoreboard watch. A lot of fun and we’ve all missed it a lot.

Make no mistake, we're taking a playoff team to the woodshed right now.

I put emphasis on "right now".

the best part about scoreboard watching is doing it after you have locked up a win that day.....then it feels like going to the casino with someone else's money

First time since 2013. I was 26 at the time.

I’m 33 now and since then I’ve switched jobs, gotten married, had a kid, moved 3 times, lost a bunch of hair, gained a lot of weight then lost it all back. Can’t say I’ve done the same about my hair.

    It’s been a while.
