Why does MLB not address the poor umpiring?

between the reds choking with runners in scoring position, and the usual ridiculousness from the home plate ump, this game has sucked so far. we're tied, but we should be winning.

Absolutely no need to slide while catching that ball. Just plain stupid. Keep running to the ball! How can he be such a smart hitter and such an unfocused defender?
Gotta figure out a way to get him off the diamond with Moose at 1b. Probably too later in the year to move Senzel to 2b but i'd be thinking about it for '21. Winker, Shogo, Cast, Goodwin as the 4 outfielders.

    "The Human Element".

Apparently a lot of fans are calling for that over, you know, actual strike zone accuracy.

it's kind of like legal sports gambling and the legalization of marijuana. it's inevitable. it will happen soon. and everyone will look back on it and say, "why didn't you idiots do this earlier?" automated balls/strikes should have happened at least 10 years ago. it will definitely happen at some point, which will make years like this look stupid in that they were behind the times.

This one has the feel of a tough luck/no support loss for Bauer.

Absolutely. There's needs to be performance metrics applied to the umpires. Set a reasonable standard of acceptable performance (not perfection but a reasonable standard) and those who can't live up to that, should be invited to find another line of work. That's what the rest of us face. That's what the players face. Perform or you're out.

i don't blame bauer at all. maybe he should throw the ball 10 inches outside every time and it would be called a strike.

    MLB is a joke.
