Two base runners would have made it high leverage, and the best way to close a game out in that scenario is preventing it from being high leverage. Iggy has been dynamite, but he has blown up twice this year, and several times last year. It does happen, and I don’t think
It was an appropriate time to risk creating an opportunity for it to happen after our offense finally put some runs on the board.

The thought of Miley bringing the gas can with him definitely danced around in my head. If Bell had brought him out in the 8th after we saw him warming in the bottom of the 7th, he should have been forced to undergo immediate brain surgery. But in the 9th with a 5 run lead, I think it’s fine to bring a rather proven vet like Miley in there for the work.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

That really shows how those 3 really can dominate a series.

The Brewers were actually lucky to win a game. If Gray wasn’t on a pitch count, they may well have not won the 2nd game.

One opposing player told Joey Votto that he hated the #Reds grounds crew. Votto laughed. "I thought, ‘That’s exactly what we want.' We want the opposing team to hate, be annoyed by them. ... They've carried us at times when we need energy."

    Thanks.

I'm just stopping by now and then to relax and unwind -- maybe talk about Andy Taylor or Norse mythology, and update lists that I've poured a lot of time into in the past, and talk a little baseball history.

I'm still not taking this season (or this club) too seriously -- it just feels like an asterisk of a season to me. I don't like a lot of the rules changes, though I understand why they were made; however, I am quite fearful that some (or all) of them will be made permanent in future seasons -- it's just not the baseball I grew up with.

Nonetheless, I am trying to keep a cheerful disposition for the most part, as I realize that a lot of people are getting into the playoff chase, and I don't want to pee in anyone's Wheaties. I do hope the Reds do well, but my excitement level this season has been very subdued.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

Our grounds crew is the best in baseball.

    Probably of all time.

Somebody probably has metrics to back that up.
