The news about MLB wanting to keep 7 inning DH is disappointing, but I like that they also want to keep the DH. Add that to expanded playoffs, and I suspect the MLBPA will actually be able to hold something over the owners' heads to get something real.

I also expect a DH-- which would absolutely help the Reds.

It's clear the Reds ownership have forced Krall to make calculated decisions base on money. All I'm saying is that I think this particular decision was a calculation that I can defend, as it appears to be backed up by real data they have on Bradley.
I’m not drawing any conclusions. Indeed, I’ve never written a more equivocal post. “Suggests, possibly, that the Bradley non-tender was maybe more about money and less about pitching projection.” An “interesting coincidence.”

MLBTR using different methods projected between $3 and $5.8 million for Luis. He was a first year arbitration player.

Overall, I think Reds did pretty well with these arbitration guys; pretty much within the projections. I can see how some might have expected Luis to get more, yes, agree. Very valuable starting pitcher.

A bit surprised that Reds were able to sign all the guys by the deadline. Glad that happened.

#Reds payroll sits around $120 million after settling contracts with their six arbitration-eligible players. Should give them at least some flexibility when looking to add a shortstop.

Re: 2020-2021 Off-Season News, Notes and Discussion

As the Cincinnati Reds continue to remain involved with free-agent shortstops, their payroll for the upcoming season became a bit more clear on Friday. The Reds have about $124 million committed to their 2021 payroll, according to Fangraphs, well below their estimated payroll of $142 million last year if the season wasn’t shortened. The Reds are reducing payroll from last season, but it’s unclear how much flexibility they have for adding one of their free-agent shortstop targets Marcus Semien or Didi Gregorius.

Actually Luis did quite well for 1st time arb.

Cole a few years back was $3.75 and Bauer was $3.55 I believe - 1st time arb.
