    Benintendi on the Market

    Bowden:

According to multiple sources the #RedSox have been in serious trade talks with multiple teams re: OF Andrew Benintendi looking for prospect(s) type return with emphasis on P & OF....nothing imminent though
This would be a great get by the Reds IMO.

    What would it take?

    Siani and Lodolo enough?
What would you say.....ya do here?

I hope the Reds are aggressive on this.

I'd be a bit leery- the Red Sox are selling very low - do they know something? Benintendi started his career as a Nick Markakis+ and last year was just terrible. I'm not sure what the Reds would do with him unless they know how to fix him and can find a way to put him in an OF with Senzel/Sugo/Castellanos/Winker already. Plus while he's under team control, if he bounces back next year his arb numbers will start to get to large for the Reds Scrooge-like payroll.

He only played 14 games this year

This must be what it was like to be watching the Red Sox operate 100 years ago.

That could be an overpay when you consider he has a 95 ops+ over his last 152 games, covering 2019 and 2020.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Wonder if they'd be interested in Senzel+? Otherwise a guy like Hunter Greene (or Lodolo) may suit as the headliner.

Definitely no to trading Senzel and Greene for him. I like Benintendi, but he’s a sub 800 OPS career guy, has one 4 win season back in 2018, and only 2 years of control left.

    Re: Benintendi on the Market

Why would the Reds want another corner outfielder making $6.6M and only one more additional year of control? It's doubtful that they would even offer him arbitration in 2022. Seriously, how would this put the Reds over the top?

If you ignore 2020, in 2019 he's a .742 OPS guy. He's on his 2nd Arb year, so he'll have 2 seasons and then Free Agent. I simply woudn't pay that much.

He's more like a Siani and Vlad Guttierrez for me.

    Re: Benintendi on the Market

Wow you guys are willing to give up alot for 2 years of a corner outfielder who has cracked .800 OPS only once in 3 full seasons. Siani and Lodolo? Senzel+? Hunter Green? No thanks.
Besides, where are you going to play him and who sits?

I would trade Senzel straight up for him. Both post-hype, but Benintendi has more of a track record of success and is actually an OF.

Reds fans are severely overrating Senzel.
