Philly fans should be happy. Phils said they lost significant money but hired an aggressive, win now GM.

    Bobby Nightengale @nightengalejr
#Reds re-signed pitchers R.J. Alaniz and Jesse Biddle to minor league deals with invites to spring training. Alaniz was non-tendered earlier this month.

    Jayson Stark @jaysonst
I asked Dave Dombrowski today about all the prospects he's traded.

He pointed to the guys in Boston he didn't trade: Devers, Benintendi, Rodriguez, Bogaerts - because they were pieces of championship team.

The young player he wishes he hadn't dealt? Eugenio Suarez (by Detroit)!

    Rangers got an absolute steal.

Signed David Dahl for 1 year $3 million.

If this is a sign of where the market is heading, color me hopeful!

Nice move by Texas but I see Dahl as one of those guys ultimately falling into the "what could have been" category due to injuries.

Him and Senzel in CF would have maybe put together a full season.

Personally, I would have signed Dahl and traded Senzel for Lindor.

    One problem for the Phillies.

They don't have a ton of minor leaguers to trade off for Dom to do his thing. Their top two are currently on the big league team.

That being said, if we really wanted to, Bryson Stott and Mick Abel are probably on the table as of right now.

Mahle for Stott & Abel is a pretty close trade on BTV...just sayin'.

Chris Rose let go (contract not renewed) by MLB network.

Ohio native. Good guy. Reds fans might remember him as the host of “The Best Sports Show Ever.”

2.9 fWAR from 2016-2020. To those who think he was a steal (I agree he’s a nice 3 Million lotto ticket) what changes in 2021 going forward? Was the lack of production the past 5 years just unlucky injuries? I always thought much of his reputation arose from that Coors Field sizzle.

The Indians aren't likely to get what they want for Lindor, but they can do a lot better than than a 2 year player with a 720 career OPS that has trouble staying healthy (Senzel). The Indians aren't going to want a guy with 2 years service time as the center piece either (close to arb). They want to get cheaper too. Senzel has upside, but they can do better, especally if it's just Senzel and 2 lotto tickets.

Lindor does not fit into the Reds budget and would walk after 2021 anyhow. Would not be a good trade for the Reds either. Would have made more sense last year.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

So, Phillies are cutting payroll. Probably means they're keeping Segura and out of the running for Didi.

Yankees are looking for a SS, but they could just keep Torres there and sign LeMahieu. I could see the Mets making room for a new SS, but they have a couple of good options.

Somebody has to sign Realmuto, too. That's going to eat up a big chunk of some team's budget.

The point is, it's a relatively soft market for guys like Gregorius, Semien and Simmons. Will the Reds strike first and sign a guy worried about the quiet hot stove, or wait it out and sign the dreaded "guy who has nowhere else to go but the Reds"?
