    Mark Saxon @markasaxon
The #STLCards declined Kolten Wong's $12.5 million option, costing them $1 million and making him a free agent.

Thing is, there are going to be a lot of surprises. The non-tenders are going to be even more interesting.

The Cardinals are great at judging when to let players go. I wouldn't touch Wong at all.

This offseason is just going to be an epic bloodbath. It's going to be much more entertaining that 90% of the Reds 2020 season.

I don't think you can treat this like any other offseason. I think were going to see a lot of guys have their options declined that generally would have had them picked up in the past. I'm expecting cheaper contracts and fewer quick signings too.

Most teams are probably going to plan as if the virus will impact next season too, both on the field and in the stands.

I think MLB would be smart to push the season back to May 1. I think things will start to be better by early next summer, and could be almost back to normal by late summer. I know they don't want to go to November so they have been starting the year earlier, but I think the later you start the better chance you have of getting fans in stands.

I don’t think this move has anything to do with Wong’s ability.

If Reds were to add a second baseman, I’d rather it be a RHH. Wong is a LHH.

    Three reasons -

    1. Get away from too many LHH who hit into the shift.

    2. Reds were bad against LHP.

    3. New second baseman would play when Moose sits, Votto sits (Moose to first), or Winker sits (Votto to DH).
Three lefties, should more often sit against LHP, get another righty in the lineup then.

Assumes Reds want someone other than Farmer for that particular role.

He hit well against the Reds and no one else. That's a red (no pun intended) to me.

Hall of Famer catcher Johnny Bench has listed his 1975 and 1976 World Series rings on Hunt Auctions.
The ’75 Reds (108-54) bulldozed its way through the regular season in route to the World Series title.

Bench’s ’75 championship ring is estimated to go for between $75,000 and $150,000, according to Hunt Auctions. As of 10 a.m. Thursday, the current bid is $69,044.

In ’76, the Reds made it back-to-back World Series titles by sweeping the New York Yankees.
Bench’s performance in the series earned him the World Series MVP.
His ’76 World Series ring is expected to go for the same price as the ’75 one.

The highest bid as of 10 a.m. Thursday for the ’76 ring is $59,004.
The auctions for Bench’s World Series rings end at 3 p.m. EST on Nov. 13.
Both rings come with a letter of provenance from Bench, according to Hunt Auctions.

    The evil is back.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

    .
Does the genius know he has to keep his relievers in for at least 3 batters. I'm predicting lots of phony injuries in Chicago that miraculously cure overnight.
