Looks like it won't be until morning at the earliest.

In the story it said the woman contacted a Cubs employee about him and that employee pressed her numerous times on whether she was going to sue him. It also said the Cubs employee said Porter wanted to apologize to her in person and that employee thought it would be a good idea. But the Cubs issued a statement earlier tonight that this was the first they heard about it. So either they are lying or that employee didn't tell his higher ups or if he did, they sat on it. A potential lawsuit against an employee of your organization doesn't sound like something you keep to yourself.

The Mets have released the following statement from team president Sandy Alderson, regarding an ESPN story that GM Jared Porter sent explicit text messages to a female reporter in 2016:
    8:29pm · 18 Jan 2021
Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. -- Carl Sagan (Pale Blue Dot)

Wouldn't that be a Mets employee?

All of this happened when he worked for the Cubs

    Robert Murray @ByRobertMurray
Jared Porter in his introductory press conference last month: "What we've talked about the most is a cultural shift, for one. Adding good people to the organization, improving the organizational culture."
The Mets need to fire Porter. Immediately.

We have terminated Jared Porter this morning . In my initial press conference I spoke about the importance of integrity and I meant it.There should be zero tolerance for this type of behavior.

11:04 pm: ESPN publishes story revealing Jared Porter’s harrassment of a female media member, complete with text-by-text creepiness.

7:55 am: On Twitter, Mets owner Steve Cohen announces Porter’s firing.

    Gross.

Not surprised it sounds like the Cubs looked the other way.

Good for Cohen to move so quickly on this. No hesitation, no BS, just action. Before anyone says anything about cancel culture or metoo or whatever: I’m guessing this guy didn’t mention this situation during the interview process.

Either way: Cohen is clearly a good owner. Mets fans are lucky.

Source? I just searched for it and his COO apparently didn’t give sporting event tickets to female employees? Not defending the guy, id like to learn more about what you are claiming.

Are the Cubs/Theo just going to get a free pass with this? Sounds like they knew about this years ago.

It wouldn’t be good if it was some random woman, but doing this to a media person is even more insane. This guy is an obvious liability, and I wouldn’t want him in charge of something I’m just spent two and half billion dollars on.

The accusations were much stronger than that. Here is a quote from the article:

As reported by the Times, the complaint asserts that Cohen behaved in sexist ways and promoted a hostile work environment. He is accused of uttering both expletives and “a derogatory word for a woman’s genitals.” Cohen is also alleged to have repeatedly disparaged Vavra, vulgarly dismissing her as “so stupid” and “an idiot” and crudely saying her work product “sucked.” Cohen is portrayed as belittling other women who worked for the company as well.
