He was an excellent hoopster at Creighton and briefly was with the Harlem Globetrotters.

BTW, if you're dreaming big for what Hunter Greene could be, Bob Gibson is the template for that. Didn't really get established until he was 25, but then he went on a 13-year run where he averaged 18-11, 2.70, 137 ERA+. Sometimes domination takes time.
I'm not a system player. I am a system.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

This was on yesterday, a conversation with Bob Gibson and a conversation with Gibson and Reggie Jackson. Despite it being a public radio show and therefore somewhat of a letdown because the producers expect their audience doesn't really get sports ;-), it's really cool to hear Gibson still blaming hitters for getting plunked that many years after retiring. And Reggie Jackson is always a treat to listen to.

Gibson's 1968 season was just before my time as a baseball fan, but those stats he put up that year are truly mind blowing. A 1.12 ERA is just crazy! A truly great pitcher who could intimidate the best of hitters. RIP Bob Gibson.
Reds Fan Since 1971
I recall Gibson from the 1964, 67, and 68 World Series. He threw a lot of baseball in those three series and was fun to watch.
In the NPR interviews posted by SunDeck he describes the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 1964 Series. He was tired and allowed two homers but nailed down the win. After he retired, Gibby was always a very engaging interview. RIP.
