Bob Gibson Dies at 84

I recall Gibson from the 1964, 67, and 68 World Series. He threw a lot of baseball in those three series and was fun to watch.

In the NPR interviews posted by SunDeck he describes the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 1964 Series. He was tired and allowed two homers but nailed down the win. After he retired, Gibby was always a very engaging interview. RIP.

Those series were a lot of what hooked me on Baseball. I remember getting off the school bus in the afternoon and running home as fast as I could from the bus stop (in those days the bus didn't come straight to your house), just so I could watch Gibson pitch. We were all surprised when Mickey Lolich outpitched him.

Interesting fact about Joe Morgan...he hit .313 vs Gibson and struck out just 3 times in 83 at bats.
