It would be intriguing to watch Dick Fitts toe the rubber at GAB.

    Any relation to Dick Pole?

Tommy Mace, whom the Reds drafted in the 12th round in 2017 is listed at #36. He has been working with Driveline, has good velocity and spin rate, and has good size at 6' 6''. Reds have pursued Florida pitchers in the past. Are there any prohibitions against drafting him again?

IIrc when a team drafts a player who doesn't sign, the team would then need that player's written consent (i.e. a signature) to draft him again. Generally speaking players are willing to be drafted by the same team again because the earlier they're drafted, the higher the signing bonus they're likely to get. But if you're, say, Brady Aiken, you probably wouldn't want to be drafted by the Astros again.

    Re: 2021 Draft Discussion

Looks like we have 3 of the top 35 picks in the 2021 MLB draft now that Bauer has signed. #17, 30 and 35 to be exact.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_M...Baseball_draft

Here is an interesting projection for our 3 picks that was done a couple months ago in anticipation of Bauer signing.

    17. Cincinnati Reds: James Wood, OF, IMG Academy (FL)

The Reds go with a prep outfielder for the second consecutive year as well and Wood already looks the part. His father played professional basketball overseas and the 6-foot-6, 230-pound outfielder really thrived with IMG Academy. He possesses huge raw power with a pretty left-handed swing and shows the potential for 30 home run power. He is a plus runner that currently plays center field, but he likely moves to a corner with the arm and power potential for right field.

    30. Cincinnati Reds (Compensation for Trevor Bauer): Mason Pelio, RHP, Boston College

Bauer hasn’t signed anywhere yet, but the Reds will receive this selection once he does so. Pelio is a 6-foot-4, 215-pound righty and he’s big, strong and durable. His fastball hits 97 mph consistently and there’s potential for a plus changeup in there as well. There’s lots of reliever risk here, but he’s a solid fit in Cincinnati’s Spin City pitching infrastructure.

    35. Cincinnati Reds: Christian McLeod, LHP, Mississippi State

College lefty with high spin rates and a 3/4 delivery fits into Cincinnati’s pitching model.

Those three fit the profile of what Reds have been doing with top picks since Buckley left. HS hitters and college pitchers.

I'm okay with James Wood, but if they draft James Woods, I'm no longer a Reds fan.

Wood sounds like the kind of HS player that is a mid to late first round pick now but by June will be a top 5 pick. Doubt he falls to the Reds. I would absolutely love this draft, though.

    Reds also have pick 52.

    So it’s 17, 30, 35, 52. That’s a pretty important group of assets for Reds, I’d say, and I hope they don’t trade any.

Reds need to stock up the farm.

Reds will blow the picks, though. I have zero confidence in the reds drafting ability at this point.
