You could put together a pretty good 25-man roster of players who have died in 2020:

    Lineup (8)

    1B Bob Watson
    2B Frank Bolling
3B Tony Taylor (was primarily a 2B, but also played 3B)

    LF Lou Brock
    CF Jimmy Wynn
    RF Al Kaline

    Bench (7)
    C Don Pavletich
    1B Bob Oliver
    2B Glenn Beckert
    2B Damaso Garcia
    SS Eddie Kasko
    OF Jay Johnstone
    OF Claudell Washington

    Rotation (5)
    Tom Seaver
    Bob Gibson

    Johnny Antonelli
    Mike McCormick

    Bullpen (5)
    Ron Perranoski
    Don Larsen
    Ed Farmer
    Bob Lee
    Adrian Devine
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

Casey Stengel manipulated his starting rotation in the regular season in part to be able to use Ford more against the Yankees primary challengers. He also limited the number of innings Ford pitched, which possibly was a smart move with a then young pitcher. When Ralph Houck replaced Stengel as Yankees manager prior to the 1961 season he had Ford pitch every fourth game as a regular rotation, giving Ford as many as 39 starts. Ford responded with his only 2 twenty win seasons, going 25-4 in 1961 and 24-7 in 1963.
I can understand why Stengel did what he did with Ford in the regular season. However I'm mystified by his use of Ford in the World Series. He sometimes started Ford on as little as two days rest, and in another Series didn't start Ford in game seven even though he had four days of rest. His holding back Ford from a start until game 3 in the 1960 World Series lead to his firing. Ford threw two shutouts against the Pirates in the Series, but by being held back until game 3 he was unable to make a third start in game seven.

You have a new second baseman.

Ford was the ace of those Yankee staffs of the 50's and 60's. A truly great and clutch pitcher. At one time he held the record for most wins in the World Series. Maybe he still does? Not many are left from that era. RIP Whitey Ford.

In 1961 Ford threw 283 innings, yet had “only” 11 complete games.

    He was 25-4.

The secret weapon was Luis Arroyo, the first “closer” I can remember from watching baseball.

Arroyo was 15-5, 2.19 ERA, threw 119 innings, and finished 54 games for the Yanks that year.

How many games did Arroyo not finish or how many did he appear in?

Pitched 65 games to lead the league; finished 54 to lead the league. Saved 29 to lead the league.

The 1961 Yankees, with the Maris/Mantle homer race, were a great team. Reds were a worthy WS opponent, but Yanks were not very beatable that season.
