    2021 Offseason Slobberknockers

I am guessing Snell wants out of Tampa Bay after that pathetic decision making to pull him out.

The rays are known to trade big named pitchers for huge hauls.

    Reds get:
    Snell

    Rays get:
    Senzel
    Lodolo
    Santillan
    Random lottery ticket

    Who says no?
What would you say.....ya do here?

I wouldn’t be trying to trade Senzel personally, but if I was, I think it’d have to be for a hitter. Not that the trade isn’t technically worth it per se, but I think given the resources they have, they’re best move would be to trade for a hitter and open up the vaults for Bauer.

Although idk maybe they could do this one and sign George Springer with the Bauer money

    Castellini doesn't have a vault...he has a piggy bank.

I think the Rays might say no though also, I think they could get more for Snell. 3 more years and he’s relatively cheap for a couple of them still. Even his 16mil on his last year is a bargain relative to his performance.

There's a chance that Smell gets traded. Not because he wants it, but because he is going to get expensive and that's when the Rays traditionally trade guys.

    2020- $7 Mill (pre-covid)
    2021 - $11.1 mill
    2022 - $13.1 mill
    2023 - $16.6 mill

He only signed the contract in 2019. He may last another year. He will not finish 2022 with Rays.

Rays would not accept that offer. It's basically a good pitchng prospect in Lodolo, a guy that has been pretty much a bust in 2 years in majors (Senzel), and an iffy prospect in Santillan. They can do better.

    Here is one:

Reds trade Raisel Iglesias and Jesse Winker to the LA Dodgers in exchange for Gavin Lux, Scott Alexander. Caleb Ferguson and Edwin Rios.

Any trade for Snell would need to be centered around Hunter Greene, not Senzel.

I would too. I am not sure the Rays would want Senzel. I think they would rather have a bunch of prospects to go along with Greene.

That makes sense actually, the clocks already started on Senzel plus he’s been in the majors for a while so they don’t have the chance to develop him as they usually do with their guys.

That, unfortunately, is what it would require to convince the Rays to even consider trading Snell at this point.

    No thanks.

Ron Madden stated it best in a recent thread - something along the lines of: Many of us want the Reds to act like the Rays, but want us to consider trades that the Rays themselves would never consider making.

I would absolutely NOT trade Greene for Snell.

Best case scenario for Greene is that he becomes as good as Snell. You have more years of control with Greene, but so much uncertainty.

This. Greene only hopes to be Snell one day. And I highly doubt he ever reaches this level.

    Why?

I honestly can’t figure this out. Greene is a lottery ticket. I know he is hyped, throws really hard, and could be special. On the flip his arm has already required TJ and he is about as unproven as prospects come. He has pitched a grand total of 72.2 innings since being drafted in 2017!

Snell is a sure-fire cy young candidate (he already has one) controlled through 2023. He was a mega millions ticket that hit and made someone a multi millionaire.

I get coveting prospects, but this would be a no-brainer.
