    Re: RIP Sean Connery

Hard to fathom, he was on the verge of 70 when he did Entrapment.

Zeta Jones, his love interest, is/was young enough to be his granddaughter in real life.

I'll always remember my father shattering my Bond dreams when he made me watch Darby O'Gill, was never the same after that.

I loved watching him in so many roles.

The world lost a good one today.

Still the standard by which all Bonds are measured.

And he made the relationship seem plausible. In Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Connery, whose character was the father of Harrison Ford's Indiana, romances the same woman as his son. I can recall Steven Spielberg being asked about that and basically saying that while it was maybe not realistic for Indy's father to do that, with Connery playing the role it was quite realistic.
R.I.P. to an actor who was capable of leaving viewers both shaken and stirred.

Getting old really sucks. So many I grew up watching, hearing about, or listening to have passed recently.

Another movie he was fantastic in was Time Bandits, where he played Agamemnon, who the boy protagonist would have liked to have stayed with. You can't blame him.

Being of Scottish descent you gravitate towards Sean Connery...

Loved him in Highlander, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman, and The Man who Would be King.

He was a legendary brawler and once took out 6 Valdor gang members that wanted his jacket...he was the stuff of Legends.

I had read he was so disappointment with League of Extraordinary Gentleman that he decided to never do another film, and sure enough that was his last one. That was 17 years ago.

Yep said he was tired of dealing with the idiots...though he did make 17 million for that role...he talked briefly with Spielberg about a role in Indiana Jones but wasn't interested in the role.
He turned down Lord of the rings as well but I could never see him as Gandalf. That was a 400 million dollar hit...

And somewhat amusing is that the Last Crusade was the complete opposite of Entrapment as far as age goes, in real life he's only like ten years older than Harrison Ford but he was able to play his father rather convincingly.

That speaks to both those actors being able to play up or down their ages.
