Greeneville Reds, we hardly knew ye.

I guess we all saw it coming, but it still sucks to lose the Legends' affiliation. It's been a loyal and well-run franchise for 20 years now. It remains criminal that they never got latched on with the Reds somehow.

My apologies. I knew that but still entered incorrect information. What a day.

Lastly, the Carolina Mudcats moved to Low A with the Brewers. I am anxious to see how these League’s line up.

I really don't understand why the Reds would choose to stay in Daytona, well outside of the Reds footprint. In an older ballpark (Lexington's was built 8 years after Daytona's) that seats less people. Daytona also had half of the attendance numbers Lexington did in 2019. When Lexington is right next door and has no home. The Reds could have conceivably had the four closest minor league franchises at each level to Cincinnati.

No offense to the Daytona area Reds fans.

I've heard Lexington didn't fit well in any Low A League which are either on the west coast or the east coast

The owner of the Jax Shrimp said the invites specify the classification level, but not the league you'll be in. They assume they'll be in Intl League but don't know.

That's a shame. Frederick is nice small city. Perfect spot for a minor league team.

i love that one of the best minor league franchises in the country, the dayton dragons, are getting a bump up to a higher level.

Amarillo was the Padres AA affiliate for it's inaugural season in 2019. That contract is up and they have been invited by the Diamondbacks. I'm hoping they stick with SD, but it looks like they may head back to San Antonio.

Edit: yep done deal. SD invited San Antonio to be their affiliate.

Now I gotta learn about the DBacks minor leaguers.

So with these ten-year agreements there's little chance of the Reds trying to scoop Lexington in the future, right? I think this is the death of the Legends as I don't think independent ball is going to be a great sell. But hey, Florence has made it work for years.
