It would have to be both enough for people to live adequately through the lockdown but also protect them from major debt accumulation and/or job loss.

That in hand just about all of us would be ok with a lockdown to an extent.

What would you consider "under control"?

It’s just a monumental waste of time thinking Congress will provide the financial means necessary to keep people home 6 weeks. Shaq is more likely to make junk food descend from Heaven.

So let’s try to make the best of this bad situation and get as many businesses open while containing the spread. We can’t stop people from gathering with loved ones, but we can make workplaces as safe as possible.

    That’s IMPOSSIBLE!!

It is what it is at this point. If you think we should pull back a little bit you will be labeled a rich college-educated Ivy League fascist. Which, by the way, the horror of being Ivy League educated!!

At this point just have to accept another 100k at the minimum are going to die from this. **** em, they were over 65 anyways.
What would you say.....ya do here?

Well, you're not getting that in December/January. People get sick this time of year.

Same here and I'm relatively young. Frankly, I'm surprised everybody here isn't familiar with it.

You’re not going to get it because people aren’t going to sit home and starve.

I'm fine if that person's home. Though there's still going to be an operational food supply system. The question always has been how do we operate that safely? For the most part, we've figured that out. What would make it a dangerous job is if the virus spread gets too large (so that you can't even access the healthcare system if you need it) and people stop taking basic precautions like wearing masks. You know, where they'd start intersecting with your bad ideas.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

This was in the context of having a safety net and shutting things down

Illness doesn’t materialize from nowhere. If people were mostly staying home, the numbers we were at over the summer would be completely attainable.

We’re going to have to close some things at this point to even get back to the point where the spread is remotely contained. I agree with the general concept, get it under control and then open as many things up that won’t lead to it getting back out of control. But there’s no way to get a handle on this thing again and doing nothing at the same time.
