But bars don’t contribute to any negative issues in this country

And where did I say that? Besides, when was they last time you saw a five year old belly up to the bar. Obesity starts out at a very young age, and now we're paying for it.

If you want to call out restaurants for contributing to obesity, you need to call out bars for contributing to alcoholism.

I don't eat at either one, but there's a lot of people who work long hours just to scrape by and that's the food they can afford. It's also one of the only someone-else-made-your-food options in parts of this country. They can do takeout/drive thru safely in our current environment.

Do we need to put a serious focus on the public health and national security implications of an unhealthy lifestyle on the other side of this pandemic? Yep. Yet that's a battle for another day.

Sure, no problem with that at all. The main difference is that children aren't in the position to make proper decisions, and the seeds of obesity are planted before they are even aware of what's going on.

No schools—aside from some private schools and K-3 programs—are in-person in the Philadelphia area. Most urban and suburban public school districts are online.

Both of which are insufficient. Occupancy limits and spacing don't really matter with a virus that transmits through the air., with an activity (eating/drinking) that you can't wear a mask while doing. Same deal with increased sterilization. And shortened hours... I don't even understand. It is not a nocturnal virus or something.

I know there was talk about asking retired doctors and healthcare workers to come do some shifts, and letting medical students get some work in as well, back in the spring the first time the hospital capacity issue came up.

I imagine we’ll probably start hearing about stuff like that again pretty soon.

Best joke I've seen lately was mocking the new restaurant curfew hours in MA - get home before 10 o'clock because that's when the COVID comes out.

I wasn’t making a point about their efficacy. I was responding to RtG’s argument that everything is open as normal. From a worker’s standpoint, no it’s not.

Again though: where are 30 million workers going to get rent/food money?

Every single school in greater Cincinnati is running at around 80% occupancy right now. And restaurants are still packed, the Wings & Rings in West Chester - I just got takeout from - has every other table full and their bar seating.

The idea that restaurants are at low capacity or that schools are all shut down is BS.

Hell, the Kroger I shopped at today has their salad bar back up and running.

And the inside bar had plenty of people drinking too.
