My gut tells me that Krall will spend most of the remaining budget on a SS and trade Winker for salary-neutral pitching help. I think Winker should bring back an equally promising-with-warts pitcher with a couple years of control.

I'd rather they trade Cast as a salary dump, give Wink more reps in the OF (allowing JV to DH more and giving the entire team more defensive flex) and sign a cheaper true RF (if that exists). Maybe dangle AA for some relief help.
There was a cheaper RF - David Dahl.
What would you say.....ya do here?

That's six, but I was thinking Kim too.

I’m a Dahl fan as well. Hard to take much out of last season.

Assuming we keep Sonny, what is the most people would be willing to deal for a one year rental of Lindor?

Any player or two on the Major League roster not named Sonny Gray or Luis Castillo, and a top prospect or two as well.

I would be willing to give up 3-4 "B" prospects.. Guys not in our top 5 or 6.
Probably doesn't get the deal done though, some team will outbid us.
I don't think Lindor makes us a serious contender, the Reds will be tapped out
financially if they add him, have no bullpen, thin rotation without Bauer, etc.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

So let's think like Cleveland if they got that offer.
Cleveland says, "ok, we want Mahle, Senzel, and one of Greene/Lodollo".. Do you do that?
I don't think I would, given where the Reds are now.

I wouldn't deal Senzel or Mahle straight up for Lindor. This is an 85 win team even with Lindor. If I could base a deal around Castellanos and say Lodolo, I'd do it. The Reds need to send some salary back to make a Lindor acquisition make any sense. They need to have some payroll room for pitching. If they send a cheap guy for Lindor, that's all they will do and that team, with Lindor, still won't make the play-offs unless they are expanded again so the pretenders can get in.

All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

For just one year of Lindor? Why?
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

Simply because he makes the team better NOW. I am a bit tired of waiting on the future with this organization, because, well, the future never comes.
But I would also be fine with signing Didi.

Anyone advocating a trade for Lindor needs to consider his $19.5 million salary for next season.

The Reds aren’t exactly adding salary right now. The Indians are in part trying to dump his salary, not pay any of it. Somebody has to pay this guaranteed salary.

As mth noted, trading low salaried players for Lindor seems opposite to the Reds’ financial goals/needs right now. What’s the plan to take on $20 million in salary while trading cost effective talent?

Or sign Didi for less money than Lindor is going to make and zero prospects.
