No DH in NL for 2021

This sucks on a couple fronts

    1.) Reds have multiple DH’s
2.) We have to continue watching pitchers be awful at hitting.
What would you say.....ya do here?

we should have known that when jon fay reported there would be a universal DH going forward, that there would not be one.

    3. we have to watch winker play defense. (which kind of goes with #1, but just thought it deserved its own mention. course, castellanos might be even worse than winker defensively. and castellanos gets REAL MAD if he's taken out for a defensive replacement.)

Re: No DH in NL for 2021

Seems like the news is coming from Ken Rosenthal - https://www.rotoworld.com/baseball/m...medium=twitter. NL clubs supposedly being told to "proceed under the assumption" there will be no DH in the league next year.

    A. That leaves the door open a little bit.

    B. If so, the Reds are trading a bat (don't know who).

    C. Hooray.

I imagine Moose and Castellanos are untradeable. And doing so would be in poor taste after having just signed them, wouldn’t bode well for their ability to sign free agents going forward. Especially with what they had to do to get them here in the first place.

I could see Winker being moved though.

Trading Winker out of those three would be dumb, but alas, you’re probably right. I’ve seen Winker brought up in some trade scenarios from rival beat writers (including for Correa from astros). Wonder if there is something to that.

If they trade Winker for a major league SS, I could accept that.

I wouldn’t want to move him either, but I do get the logjam. You just can’t put him and Castellanos in the same outfield. Their only other real option would be to bench Joey and move one of them to 1B, which also obviously won’t happen.

I don’t read this as definitive. DH could still be worked out.

Could be a trade, but -

Reds might keep everybody and go with a four outfielder set up, rotating, platooning, one guy fourth OF. Wink, Cast, Shogo, Senzel.

It's not, it's called negotiating. I'd say it's far from a done deal.

Would Winker help dislodge Frankie Lindor?

That's right up our manager's alley. Bell will go wild (again).

I agree. I do see it possible that it does get axed for 2021 so that the owners can give it to the players in 2022 as something of a concession. There will probably be strike given all that is going on.

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

I hope so. I hate the DH with the intensity of a thousand suns.

The AL can keep it -- they are godless heathens anyway, so let them lose their souls.

A perfect bow on the man's career, this.
