An even trade at BTV would be something like...

    WAS gets:
    3b Suarez

    CIN gets:
    SS Garcia
    RH Crowe
    SS Cluff

Reds don’t really do well in these deals. Ed Yarnall still wants his rotation slot.

My translation is the Rizzo called about Suarez, Krall told him what the Reds would need in return and Rizzo thanked him for his time and hung up.

Rizzo then leaked this to Heyman in the hopes that it would help lower Krall’s asking price.

My guess is that they are still talking. Dumping salary is job one right now.

The Reds are pretty terrible at turning star players into young talent (cf. Johnny Cueto)

I don’t think anything is going to happen. In addition to Kieboom, another young talented guy coming off a bad year in the majors is Victor Robles.

He was a UFA to be, so pretty poor comparison even for you.

Kieboom and Robles would be enough for me to get behind that deal, I think. Kieboom would get first crack at SS, while Robles would play CF. Senzel would play 2B and Moustakas could move to 3B. (With India hot on his trail.)

It'd be a heckuva gamble, but I'd do it. I think.

Sonny Gray and Eugenio Suarez are the last two players I’d trade on the Reds right now. Unless Juan Soto is coming back, the Nats can forget it (at least I hope)

The fact that they held onto him a year too long is not a glowing endorsement of the organization either. Slice it how you like. It was a fumble.

The Cueto trade itself was a good one. They got two too 100 MLB prospects for two months of Cueto. That’s a haul.

They rushed and misused those prospects, which is a big reason why they flopped, but even if they didn’t prospects flop all the time. It was a good trade that just didn’t work out.
