Reds sign two more to minor league deals

#Reds signed RHP Bo Takahashi to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training. He played at Double-A in D-Backs organization in 2019.

Takahashi was outrighted off D-Backs’ 40-man roster in October. He was supposed to be on the team’s player pool last summer, but the U.S. banned incoming flights from Brazil.

He was assigned to AAA. He's never pitched above AA and had just okay numbers. But he's just 23.

    and

    Pete Bayer

Kyle Boddy announced it and had some of his Driveline data. He's hitting 97.3 on his fastball

Bayer is 26 and never pitched above A ball.

Why? Dude turns 27 in a few months, hasn't pitched above A+, and has a history of wildness. Looks like org filler to me.

I hear that when he pitches the ball looks as like an aspirin.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

They weren't going to resign Bauer. And so they went with the next closest thing - Bayer.

Bauer was a bit of a headache at times.

I wonder if any of that has played into the decision about him. I like the guy, but we only had him around a short time. I have a feeling it might get a little old after a while.

#Reds signed RHP Matt Ball and LHP Josh Osich to minor-league contracts with invites to spring training. Osich made 17 apps last season with Red Sox and Cubs. Ball pitched in Angels' farm system in 2019.

Ball doesn't seem like much of an asset. Osich is lefty and pitched for Boston last year, but had bad ERA.

Roy, staring out the window, waiting for spring.

I was lucky enough to watch @Joshosich throw the first no-hitter in a couple decades for @BeaverBaseball against UCLA. The guy taking the mound for the other team was some kid who now goes by @BauerOutage. twitter.com/nightengalejr/…
