I was able to get Fosters autograph one time. I think it was at the Phil Niekro near no hitter game in 1976. When I got to the stadium one of the ushers gave me a card to get autographs from three players that would show up at a table along the concourse of Riverfront sometime before the game. To everyone's surprise Foster was one of the players! The other two were Manny Sarmiento and Ed Armbrister. Foster was very friendly and you could tell he was a very nice person. I was carrying a bag chips and he made some comment about sharing them with him and the team. I had that autograph card for a long time but have since lost it along life's journey.

George came to my town for the Cal Ripken World Series and I personally never interacted with him but a few people I worked with did and had nothing but good things to say about him. One guys son was on the local team that competed in the World Series and George interacted with his son. George came back the next year for a baseball camp and still remembered his sons name. Cal Ripken Jr. on the other hand was allegedly an ass, or so I was told by some people that had to deal with him.

Honestly, I think there was someone before Drew Stubbs that Drew Stubbs reminded me of too.

I never noticed before that BF keeps track of where guys are buried and if they were cremated.

Totally agreed. Just making the point that under no circumstances is it the lackluster Drew Stubbs.

Actually, I have met George Foster and Todd Benzinger. Foster signed my nephew's baseball cap at a Reds game, and we talked for about a minute while he did that. I had about a five-minute conversation with Benzinger at a media stop on a past Reds Caravan.
