As a Buckeyes fan I love Urban Meyer and appreciate everything he did at Ohio State, but twice he's left his HC position for health and family reasons, yet here he is now considering an NFL job. Each job being probably more stressful than the one he left. The guy has a good gig, owns restaurants, pretty much has it made. Why do this? It makes him seem disingenuous.

    Ego
When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.

I think he'd still be coaching OSU had the Zack Smith situation not gone down.

Because he is, Florida fans knew this 9 years ago.

Still interested in what he could do in the NFL...for 6-7 years

Local Sports guy did approval poll on various coaching candidates

    Urban 76% - 24%
    Bienemy - 77% - 23%
    Saleh - 46% - 54%
    Morris - 9% - 91%
    Smith - 24%- 76%

I think once Urban does have an illness in which the symptoms are once he gets tired of a job or no longer enjoys it, he begins to get headaches and overall feeling like crap. He is just unaware that most of us suffer from this same illness.

Re: 2021 Jaguars - Everything will change !!

Pro Football Talk indicates the job is his and Jags have shutdown coach interviews pending his decision. If I was Shad I'd give him 48 hours and then move on. PFT also said rumors were that he would keep Trent Balke on as GM. That sucks on 2 levels for me.

    1. I want 100% clean sweep and Balke is acting GM left over from prior regime.
    2. Every indication I've seen says the Balke is not a good GM.

One guy on Twitter (not a blue check mark. Just some guy) indicated a name from Meyer's college days as GM. The interesting part of that is that my daughter is friends with that guys wife. I could see myself getting an luxury box invite some day !!!

With Saban cemented as College FB GOAT and him seemingly invisible to any stress and burn out issues...

Urban achieving success in the NFL after Saban's disgraceful exit from Miami in 2008 would be something to set him apart

I think only USC and maybe Texas would have been the two best college fits for Urban (assuming he would never go to B1G or SEC to impact his OSU and UF ties)

Also NFL and big time college offenses have merged and with college portal free agency, could make the NFL more attractive

I agree that this is a big motivating factor.

Now a lot of media saying a deal is being finalized. Schefter reporting the two sides met again yesterday.

I think it is a lock....I expect an announcement today or early morning tomorrow. I doubt they would risk announcing after noon on a Friday if they are trying to get the biggest bang for their buck.
