The issue (according to Boddy's Reddit post) is that Greene's dropped his arm slot slightly. That's no bueno in terms of repeatable "tunneling," throwing strikes, and clean mechanics. (It works if he's a relief arm, though.)

I'm torn on Greene at this point. I think he could be an Aroldis Chapman-like closer within this season if the Reds chose to make him one.

I also think he could be an ace starter, but the odds of that are higher, and it will take longer to develop.

I absolutely believe there aren't 100 prospects as good as he is, and I suspect he'll prove all of these lists ridiculous once he begins pitching in real games. 100 mph with movement don't lie. If he can keep his BB/9 below 3.0 and throw 115+ innings injury-free this season, he's probably a top 25 prospect in the game.

When did Boddy say the arm slot was an issue? Everything I’ve read sounds like they rebuilt some of his mechanics intentionally.

In his last Reddit AMA "interview".

Did Boddy say all of this in the AMA regarding Greene or did he just say his arm slot dropped - and the rest has been extrapolated?

Boddy said his arm slot dropped and that he would work to get it back up. (Paraphrasing)
