[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

Only problem is who is a cheap vet?
Just to be clear: I agree I don’t want Farmer starting, nor Garcia. I believe the Reds agree with you and that is why they are being connected to Simmons.
I think they are going to surprise everyone and sign a veteran SP, my hope is Porcello.
What would you say.....ya do here?

I ran a trade idea through BTV to see what a Story trade would look like, and came up with this:
CIN gets:
SS Story
COL gets:
IF Callihan
LH Lodolo
OF Hendricks

Yeah, I’d be fine with Simmons, Porcello and some relief scratch-offs.

For the record, I'm in agreement that that seems like a high price, and that there are better alternatives.

imo, a lot of you are completely overreacting on jose garcia, based on a very small sample size when he was a rookie at the age of 22 thrown into a playoff race. furthermore, he had never played above high-A ball prior to that. give the kid a chance. a lot of people that i'm sure we all trust (barry larkin, etc) believe this kid is the real deal. is he ready to be the starting shortstop this year? no. but i fully believe he is the reds' SS of the future.

No kidding, right? For those circumstances, I liked what I saw. The bat speed is there. And he can make solid contact. And his defense is good as well.
I do love the idea of someone like Simmons being on hand for a couple years as Garcia transitions to the bigs, though. Simmons can teach Garcia a lot, I bet.
