I suspect they already know and they're holding off the announcement in the pursuance of saving a few bucks.

Thanks for the compliment, however, I will never be as awesome as Teddy. He’s one of my heroes.

Wouldn't be if I was the Reds. They're well set up for the DH whether it's adopted or not.

Okay, I don’t agree with some of the points 757690 was making but using a person with Down’s Syndrome as a punching bag in order to insult him seems pretty uncool to me.

Teddy is awesome. He made the 2012 regular season even more fun.

Yep, the owners will approve it at the last minute, then use it as a bargaining chip in the next negotiation.
If the owners approved the DH the day after the 2020 world series, then they couldn't posture that the DH is something debatable.
I'm not defending the owners, I Agree with your take.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

Well at least 757690 took it as a compliment.

I'm sorry for being a real downer.

I assumed the owners would play the long game, taking the DH away from the NL this year, and then making it a huge “give back” as part of the next CBA.

Re: MLB Discussing Universal DH And Expanded Playoffs For 2021

MLB offered a universal DH if the union agreed to expanded playoffs. Union rebuffed the deal, which included extra money for players, so at least for now there will be no universal DH.
This is very bad news for the Reds

I wouldn't go that far. It's not great news, but they'll have plenty of ways to get Winker, Castellanos and Shogo enough at bats. If anything it puts more pressure on the Reds to sign a SS who can hit. And it definitely boosts the Lorenzen to the rotation argument.

I am moreso thinking about the Reds have 4 DHs playing defense. I kinda think they should move Moose or Suarez now.

I liked the DH, hated the expanded playoffs though.
Glad the union did not agree.

This isn't failed DH negotiations. The MLB could institute that right now and the MLBPA wouldn't care. The problem is Manfred is attaching it to expanded playoffs where the players wouldn't get their normal share of revenues.
