I like how the cornerstone of their prospective deals are always “that guy who was okay three years ago who you’ve heard of because they’re always in the playoffs.”

The only way I’d consider this is if Yanks take and fully pay for the Castellanos, Moose or Votto contract.

Plus Reds get Gleybar Torres and other good young players.

Then Reds could give Didi Gregorius a good multi-year contract and add some pitching in FA. Play Torres at second.

    That would be worth considering.

Read about Luis Medina (70 fb, 60 ch, 55 cu) had turned a corner with his control. May want him in any deal. He'd be a comer, I think.

This is the only way I trade Castillo. If I'm Krall I'd propose this:

    Reds trade: Castillo and Moose

Yankees trade: Torres(SS) Deivi Garcia (SP) and Johnathon Loisaga (SP/BP)

I want 2 promising arms and a SS for the future, I would then look to sign Kolton Wong or Tommy LaStella to man 2b. and look to FA to add an arm on a 1 year deal until Lodolo is ready

If the Reds get Torres in a Castillo deal, does that mean they won the Chapman trade?

So this video says that Bowden said on MLB radio today that the Yanks and Reds are currently actively talking about
a Castillo trade. Of course, that doesn't mean 100% that it's true, but a little more smoke.

haha, as if the reds would ever trade a great pitcher to the yankees for dirt cheap.

    oh wait.

again, the problem is that you are not running the reds. the reds are running the reds.

I have no problem trading Castillo if the return is right. Castillo is on the verge of becoming super-expensive which means he won't be on Reds long. The problem with Gleybar Torres is he is in the same boat.

So I want Dominguez. I wouldn't do a deal without him. Then I want Clark Schmidt. Then I want someone else from their Top 10 list.

Just knowing where the Reds are as an organization, I doubt they would do this trade to bring on another rebuild.

Not saying no prospects would be involved. But goal would be to sell high, get value, keep competitive, and cut costs.

Your point about Torres is a good one, although Reds would likely be dumping some salary as part of the deal.

Maybe it’s Dominguez, Clint Frazier, and a major league pitcher. But I doubt it’s all minor leaguers in return.

If the Reds trade Castillo to the Yankees I will go full Evil Empire. I live in Yankees country, a 30 minute train ride from Yankee Stadium.

Castillo would give me the bridge to fully cut my ties to the Reds. I'd hate rooting for the richest team in baseball, but it'd be a hell of a lot easier, and a lot more fun.

This is the exact deal that I was thinking about, except I'd play Torres at 2B and sign Didi Gregorius using the Moose money. You'd replace Castillo with another high ceiling arm, improve the offense and fix the infield. Then use teh Saving from Castillo vs. Garcia to sign a solid reliever.

The Yankees would never do this though, so it's not happening.

I don't really consider Clark Schmidt a minor leaguer. I think if Reds traded for him he'd be in Reds 2021 rotation plans.
