Heyman says Reds are keeping their stars and going for the Division

Reds are telling teams now they intend to hold onto Luis Castillo. They tested the waters on Castillo and other stars but understand they have an excellent shot to win their division as is.
It says “as is” but I think they still intend on getting a SS. You kinda need to field one lol.
What would you say.....ya do here?

Reds asked the Yankees for SS Gleyber Torres plus in Castillo talks as just said on @MLBNetwork. That makes sense as both are young stars, and Cincinnati needs a SS. Yankees said no. Also not a surprise, Now Castillo very likely stays in Cincy.

He is just piggybacking on Ken Rosenthal again.

I think the Reds will grab one of the FA SS's (even if it ends up just being Simmons). a couple of bargain but solidish bullpen arms (think: Hughes and Hernandez), maybe a buy-low SP, and then go to war.

Definitely wouldn't be the best team out there, but it could/should complete in the Central.

The Yankees fan reaction to this is gold.

I was looking at the Yankees board on Reddit. It’s /r/NYyankees

They are saying the Reds are stupid for not taking Frazier and Andujar, and it would have been an overpay for Castillo, who isn’t that good (but they are super upset they didn’t get him lol). Asking for Gleyber for him is an insult to the Yankees and they are sick of Torres being the only player teams are demanding. They keep complaining about something called “the Yankees Tax” and not understanding why the Mets were able to get Lindor and Carrasco for a crap return and the Reds won’t bend the knee and trade Castillo to them for a crappy return. It’s quite humorous.

Here’s a tweet by a Yankees fan also:

When will people realize that Gleyber is not a tradable prospect anymore?! So stop asking. He’s been a major leaguer for 3 years and a staple of the Yankees future. Watch Castillo get traded in a year for a package of minor leaguers and a breadstick. Happens. every. time.

Love the cognitive dissonance there. Gleyber is an established, proven major leaguer so therefore part of the future and unmovable, but just send us Castillo, K?

Reds just need to learn their proper place and send the Yankees what they want when they want it.

Also, even if the value would be fair, that package (Frazier and Andujar) makes no sense for the Reds. Neither player would have a place to play, unless the Yankees were also taking Castellanos Moustakas along with Castillo.

Yankee fans believe that like starting extra innings with a runner on 2b, the Yankees should start the season playing game 4 of the World Series with a 3-0 lead.

And FWIW, if Heyman says something it may or may not be 100% accurate.

They are all just convinced that Gleyber Torres is more valuable than Luis Castillo.

Oh, and some kind of nebulous "Yankees Tax" exists apparently.

Nothing like Yankee fans with a persecution complex. I saw one tweet that (sarcastically?) said the Padres could have got him for their 20th ranked prospect or something.
