If Krall has a clear target, now's the time he'll strike, I agree.

If he's sanguine between Gregorius and Semien, he may simply wait until one of them is signed.

If he's also fine with, for example, Jonathan Villar, he may wait until Spring Training.

True, and I wouldn’t want to rush them or anything.

    Well, I would.

We're on our 25th page about the Puig deal in a thread about a made-up rumor from a glorified Yankee blog.

We need something to talk about.

Be careful what you ask for, sometimes no news is good news, relatively speaking.

But they do have three roster spots available, so maybe they’ll do something productive.

    Putting my money down:

I predict the Reds will sign Didi before spring training.

Good prediction, but I think it would be complicated. Reds would need to find a way to get him within budget. But there are ways to do that, another deal reducing salary, maybe a creative contract.

Makes sense in many ways, his hitting approach fits, the position fits, he’s a former popular farm hand. Fans would like it.

    Solid prediction.

They’ve already cut Bradley, Iglesias, and Bauer’s salaries. They don’t need to cut anymore salaries. That WAS the salary cutting.

We’ll see if that’s enough for the Reds to sign Didi without another trade or a creative contract. Didi isn’t signing for peanuts and Reds have their budget. It’s still an unknown, hope they can sign him, he’s a great fit IMO.

    Jeff Passan @JeffPassan
Infielder Marcus Semien is in agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays on a one-year, $18 million contract, a source familiar with the deal tells ESPN.

Bradley was 6 mil, Iglesias 9-10, Bauer’s was 12 I think. They also cut Casali and Goodwin who would’ve made a few mil. Didi isn’t signing for that much.

    Ken Rosenthal

Source confirms: Free agent Marcus Semien in agreement with Blue Jays on one-year, $18M deal. Jays had been looking at Semien at 2B. Expected to be his primary position.

Maybe they'll deal Biggio and an OF for starting pitching.

Right, but Reds may not be reinvesting all that money in new players. They may have a smaller budget this year in light of COVID. We just don’t know, will have to see. As I said, hope they can find a way to sign him, he’s a great fit.

Semien got $18 million for one season, not sure what that means for Didi, probably we’ll know pretty soon. Again, hope they can sign him.

Galvis to Orioles. One year deal. Seems to be $1.5 million plus a $250,000 trade bonus. MLBTR.
