If I’m the Reds I’m calling up Preller and asking what he wants for CJ Abrams.

Krall won’t, because he is awful at his job, but he should.
What would you say.....ya do here?

14 years....wow. Imagine if he just falls off a cliff this year. It is unlikely to happen, but could.

    He has 629 career PA.
Asking for a friend. Is it wrong to hope that happens?

I enjoy Tatis Jr myself but the thought of SD lighting 340 million on fire...well, wouldn’t that be a shame?

Abrams is 19 and many years away from playing in the majors. Why would the Padres want to trade him or the Reds want him right now?

He’s 20 and mlb projects him to make the majors in 2022. The Padres just locked down the SS position for the next 14 years. They have Kim to play 2B. They have Cronenworth to play utility. They have Machado to play 3B (locked up for a very long time). Abrams is blocked from the entire infield.

Just hope for bad things to happen to the Padres or you want the people in charge to have a larger sample size when making such huge decisions?

There is no need for the Padres to make a decision on him now, and the Reds don’t need a SS who might be ready by 2022, they already have one like that who is older and farther along. It’s not like he’s ready to play now and blocked.

If he lives up to his potential, they can easily find a position for him to play a couple years from now. Safe to assume he has a lot of position flexibility. If Kim falls on his face, they potentially have their 2B of the future. Also, it seems inevitable that the DH will be implemented in the NL relatively soon.

Very little incentive for the Padres to trade a guy as promising as Abrams right now.

If I was a Padres fan, I'd be thinking sometime in the next decade my team is winning a World Series. Tatis is spectacular.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

    I’ll award them one.

I had the Cubs ticketed for plural titles, so I’ll dial back my hype.

I’m still mad that Preller was caught cheating and is still allowed to run a team. All these moves lately seem shrewd, but I am always rooting for a cheater to fail.

I wasn’t doing that, was just saying he should call about Abrams.

    Sorry to offend you, dude.

Designated hitter Mitch Moreland and the Oakland A’s are in agreement on a one-year major league contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

    Cincinnati Reds
    @Reds
February 18, 1944: A day after he plays in a high school basketball game, 15-year-old Hamilton High School student Joe Nuxhall is signed by the Reds due to the shortage of players because of those serving in World War II.
