Poll: Which SS Would You Prefer?

If the Reds have about 10-15M to spend the rest of the offseason, then I think I would rather pursue Jonathan Villar for SS. He is 29 and struggled last season but put a 4 WAR season in 2019 and had a few good seasons before that. He can probably be had for 3M or so. Then, add a couple of bullpen guys with the rest like 2 of Melancon, Rosenthal, and McGee. I know a lot of people were talking about Taillon but if the Reds choose to add a rotation piece that is controllable with prospect capitol then my target would be Spencer Turnbull of Detroit. He has 4 years of control left and can spin the baseball. He would likely be available in the right deal with maybe India plus.

He'd be a super cheap option if they were willing to sign, say, James Paxton to the rotation.

I am scared of Paxton but they would have the money to make it work if they signed Villar. I really liked the idea of Garrett Richards but he is off the market.

Villar isn't a bad idea, but I think the Reds would likely just go with Galvis if they can't sign one of the top-3.

I am beginning to warm up to the idea of Simmons, especially if it's on a 1-year deal; even better if it means they can sign an extra starter along with him.

Yes, Semien takes more pitches....it's offset by this --->

Semien's career K% - 20%

Didi's Career K% - 14%

Again, I'll take the guy who puts the bat to the ball.

Really the only thing Semien does leaps and bounds better is hit lefties, and lefties only throw 27% of the pitches in the major leagues.

Semien had one huge year, I'd rather the Reds not hope and pray he repeats it....multiple times over his next contract.

Except that Didi doesn’t do all that much more with the extra balls in play.

Extra walls are huge.
