I was told the Seahawks are not “shopping” Russell Wilson but calls made from other teams inquiring have been answered.

The #Seahawks have made calls to other teams about trading away QB Russell Wilson, @diannaESPN tells @PatMcAfeeShow

It's too soon to assume anything but they could take advantage of the Texans not answering their phone.

Elway, though only an advisor at thos point, will advise them to do whatever is necessary to get this done.

    ...and on cue...

Following yesterday's "vote of confidence" on Derek Carr by Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden, Denver jumps into the Russell Wilson sweepstakes.

From NBC Sports w/ NBC Sports' comments:

Speaking Thursday, Broncos coach Vic Fangio confirmed the team would like to add competition for Drew Lock. “Until Drew proves to be the next great quarterback like the ones Denver has been used to in years past, or ones certain teams around the league have, we’re going to always try and bring in competition," Fangio said. "But I have confidence Drew can continue to improve.” It's the latest, strongest indication Lock won't be getting any free 2021 lunches after his dismal sophomore campaign. It's quite possible Lock is replaced outright, with no meaningful competition. Lock has mouthwatering tools but has given close to zero indication he knows how to harness them at the NFL level.

Peyton Manning won them a Super Bowl and took them to another.

Peyton Manning, except that last season when they won the Super Bowl in spite of his poor play all season, including the playoffs.

Very Good, but not great, was Craig Morton, who would qualify here.

That covers 25 of the 50 years they've been in the NFL, so yes, they are used to great QB's.

Manning was great in Indy, not as much in Denver. That leaves only one great DENVER qb (Elway).

He only set the NFL record for most TD's thrown by a QB in one season. Yeah, he really sucked.

The way Top-20 QB's move around the NFL, and now Top-10 QB's are involved, teams no longer have to tank to get get good enough to win a Super Bowl.

Everything has changed in the NFL landscape when it comes to coming up with a plan to win it all.

You got me there. Manning had 3 great seasons in Denver and one not so great.

That means they had 16 years with a great qb in Elway and 3 with Manning = 19 years out of the 60+ years they've been in existence. That's it. Unless you count Morton and you said he qualifies but, by your own admission, Morton was . . .

So Morton qualifies despite, by your own words, being NOT great. Ok.

    Btw, . . .

I'm not so sure a lot of the systems out there are terribly different. Sure, the terminology is different but everyone basically lines up in a Spread formation and throw the ball a lot.

Russell Wilson trade winds: Bears' top QB priority is acquiring Seahawks superstar, per report

The Chicago Bears have never had a quarterback throw for 4,000 yards or 30 touchdown passes in a season, the only franchise in the NFL to hold this dubious feat. No wonder they plan to make a hard push for Russell Wilson if he becomes available.

Chicago will stop at nothing to land Wilson in a trade form the Seattle Seahawks. Per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears have prioritized making a run at Wilson -- as Chicago is one of the four teams Wilson would prefer a trade to if Seattle were to deal him away. The New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, and Las Vegas Raiders are the other teams Wilson would prefer a trade to -- but Chicago is the franchise in the most desperate need of a quarterback amongst the four.

They had to do it. They saw what dalton did with the exact same team.

14 pt lower passer rating and 20 pt lower qbr than what dak did last year pre Injury
