To be fair, that one was a layup.

I like this move, especially for that price.

Let's hope he comes to Cincinnati and erases the memory of another reliever named Sean.

Agreed. I'd be much more comfortable with Sims being the guy over Garrett if it comes to that.

If Doolittle can return to 2019 form, he's still worth it at $1.5 mil. Even if 2020 signaled the end of the line for him, it's very little risk to find out.

All I want to know is, can he talk to animals? If not, I'm out.
Whether he can play shortstop or not.
Next Reds manager, second shooter. --Confirmed on Redszone.

I agree with this. Amir was very shaky when he attempted his first save last year. Frankly, he closed it out by luck.

This is a great move. If Doolittle balls out it’s good on two fronts. If the reds are competing for the division in July great, if they are not he can be traded for an asset at the deadline. If he stinks it’s only $1.5 million.

$1.5M is pretty cheap....almost too cheap.

Sean Doolittle's one-year contract with the #Reds has a salary of $1.5 million, plus performance bonuses, source says.

And he has only had an FIP under 4.00 one out of the last three seasons, and even that one was a close call. His ERA and reputation outweigh his actual performance IMO, which despite some flashes of brilliance has mostly been just "okay" overall.

Could he be a volume pitcher in an Adames trade?

Sean Doolittle is going to spend the offseason in Seattle and work on his mechanics at Driveline.

"I want to prove to teams that I am healthy — that the version of me who came off the IL and starting pitching better is the version they might see in 2021."

There are performance bonuses available according to Morosi tweet. Let’s hope he hits all of them.

That Doolittle worked at Driveline is positive factor for him.

Yeah, even if you concede that both Amir and Sims are better pitchers than Doolittle at this point (they probably are), those set-up guys/fireman sometimes have a tougher job than the clean 9th inning guy. Doolittle is no mulit-inning pitcher either.

Lorenzen is the other guy in the bunch that I think could handle closer duties. I would way rather him there than in the (opening day) rotation.

He has a career era+ of 134, a FIP of 2.79, and a whip under 1. This is way better than " okay". His 2019 and 2020 wasn't great but if he returns to his career form he will be a GREAT pickup.
