Hahahaha I had exact same thought. I have a feeling Dodgers fans are going to be upset about this deal in 2 years.

Does Compensatory Round draft pick come before the Competitive Balance Round A Draft picks? So this gives us #30 in 2021 draft as well then? If so we have #17, #30 and #35 in the MLB draft. Not bad...

Were the Mets rumors last night a smokescreen so his announcement today could be more surprising?

I'll admit it. I hope he returns to 2019 Trevor Bauer.

    Re: Bauer signs with Dodgers

So the Reds were never going to spend the money to keep Bauer. And honestly they have no business spending this type of money on one guy unless he's Ruth, Cobb (or insert any other top 10 or 15 all-time great).

But still, this stings a little bit. The Reds haven't won a World Series now in 31 years, and this just sort of reinforces the fact that MLB in its current landscape means the odds of the Reds winning a World Series sometime in the next 31 years just isn't that great.

Mets were supposedly offering 40 mill in year one, Dodgers found some loose change in sofa and made it 45.

I think Dodgers give $45 in year 2. I don’t get it, how are the Dodgers not over the luxury tax line? Baseball really needs a hard cap.

I liked Bauer and he was fun and refreshing in his short time here, but I have a feeling over time that would get old (See Cleveland). I wish him the best with the Dodgers, it will be very hard to live up to that contract. He's the guy that you love when he's on your team and hate when he's on someone else's.

And this is why I thought it was hilarious that people thought he might resign in Cincinnati.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

It was fun because he was dominant. If he was doing that kind of stuff and producing only average results it would be a much different story.

This puts them around $30M over the cap, which should cost then around $10M in tax. I think teams don’t have a problem paying the tax. They just try to avoid doing it multiple years in a row, as that leads to bigger penalties. Next year, a bunch money comes off the books.

With Trevor Bauer agreeing to a 3-year deal worth north of $100 million, the Reds will receive a compensation after the first round. Right now, the Reds would have the 17th, 30th and 35th picks in the draft.

The selfish part of me wants to believe he'll never be as good as he was in 2020 again.

Hats off to him and Luba, he managed to sign a three year deal that is actually just three one year deals.

Extremely lame. Not sure what the point is in following most pro sports unless you live in New York or California or maybe Chicago at this point.

At least the NFL doesn't have the geographic issues and for the NBA at least the Knicks still suck.
