The original thought of some was that Reds paid money to acquire Holder.
So they’ll keep Holder.
Wonder if that’s where this is headed.

This article originally appeared on Cincinnati Enquirer: Cincinnati Reds release infielder Dee Strange-Gordon as they finalize Opening Day rosterStrange-Gordon was competing for a utility role after the Reds moved Eugenio Suárez to starting shortstop. It could symbolize that Kyle Farmer and Alex Blandino will be the primary utility players on the Reds bench while Jonathan India is expected to be the starting second baseman. Max Schrock, who has hit well in camp, is in that competition, too.
Biddle has pitched well this spring – 12 strikeouts and two walks in nine innings while yielding nine hits and three runs – but Cionel Pérez seemed to have a leg up on Biddle and Finnegan among left-handed pitchers competing for spots in the bullpen. The Reds already have two lefties in the back of the bullpen with closer candidate Amir Garrett and veteran Sean Doolittle.
You, when the Reds signed Dee Gordon on Feb 7th: “OMG the Reds signed Dee Gordon.”
Me, when the Reds signed Dee Gordon on Feb 7th: “Relax. The Reds didn’t sign Dee Gordon. They released him on March 26th.”
No one listened to me. Now you’ve get egg on your face. #karma
the problem wasn't the reds taking a flier on a non-roster invitee like strange-gordon. the problem was that they crapped the bed so much during the offseason in their pursuit of a legit starting SS that they then had to resort to "plan Z" and open spring with a competition featuring kyle farmer, kyle holder, alex blandino and strange-gordon battling it out for the SS gig. when the reds realized that would be the worst SS situation in the history of baseball, they made the drastic step of moving their third baseman to shortstop.
so, strange-gordon himself wasn't a big issue. he just represented how poorly the front office conducted their business during the offseason.

Connor Byrne, MLB Trade RumorsThe Brewers have agreed to a minor league contract with infielder/outfielder Dee Strange-Gordon, according to Ken Rosenthal
Milwaukee will be the second straight National League Central organization for Strange-Gordon, who spent time with Cincinnati during the offseason and in the spring. The Reds ended up releasing him toward the end of March.
Now that he’s joining the Brewers, Strange-Gordon will give the team some middle infield depth behind Kolten Wong and Luis Urias after it dealt Orlando Arcia to the Braves on Tuesday.

He's sporting a .305/.305/.356 line (.661 OPS) for the Nationals. Not only that, but he's the active leader in career stolen bases with 336. Elvis Andrus is second at 321. Billy Hamilton has 317.
