    I imagine this move has zero effect on the Reds search for a SS. If anything, it reveals that the Reds are not satisfied with Farmer as the backup infielder.

    I actually don't believe the Reds are going to go into Spring Training with Strange-Gordon having a realistic shot to win the SS job. They're cheap, but not insane.

    At this point, they're probably better off waiting to see what comes available once Spring Training/cut downs begin.

    Uh, when and how the heck did "Strange" become part of his name?

    This is a worrisome move, but hopefully it only results in eating some spring training innings.

    Villar is worth a shot if that's all you're willing to spend. If not him, then just roll with Garcia and at least you might save some runs on defense. Enough dumpster diving!

    I can confirm
    @kileymcd
    report that Dee Strange-Gordon has agreed to a minor-league deal with the #Reds with an invite to big-league camp. Strange-Gordon has worked out with Barry Larkin over the years. He will compete for a utility role with the Reds

    Seems they are looking for left handed bats who can play short or once played short.

    Strange Gordon is the guy who used to eat all the sawdust in shop class.

    Oh, and this signing gave me gas.
    “The crows seem to be calling my name,” thought Caw.

    @DSzymborski

    The Reds are just perplexing. 33-year-old formerly fast middle infielder who actually is only good at playing left field now is something that some teams need, but certainly not the Reds.

    The Reds aren't trying to contend or rebuild. The whole offseason has been emoji shrug.

    Before people continue making fun of his name:

    The 10-year veteran elected to go by Strange-Gordon to honor his mother, DeVona Strange, who was killed when he was six years old. Strange-Gordon has been his surname for his whole life, though he'd previously chosen to go by the simplified "Gordon" after an announcer mispronounced his full name in rookie ball.
    What would you say.....ya do here?

    .319 OBP would have been 5th best on the roster last year.

    Not saying that as a positive, just pointing it out.
