He always did seem like a class act. Still remember when he hit that homer immediately after Fernandez's death.

Doubt that Reds are focusing that much on Farmer. Still have no clear shortstop, probably just protecting themselves with various options going into ST.

They now have Gordon, Farmer, Holder, Garcia. And they will keep looking to sign other guys or possibly make a trade for a true starter. Hopefully still talking to Villar despite this signing.

Anything can happen, fluid situation, roster and roles TBD.

Hopefully just a move to put more pressure on Villar to sign. I'm guessing the only thing holding up the Villar deal is the final $ amount.

He's got no bat, he's a defensive liability, and he's not super fast anymore. This is, at best, a pointless signing. If Strange-Gordon sees significant playing time, the Reds are in for a long season.

In a sense, I would hope not, because that would be truly pathetic if they had to play hardball just to talk Villar down to 2 million instead of the 3 or whatever the hell it is that he wants to get him signed.

He was signed to a minor league deal with an invite to camp to compete for a utility role

He'll be easy to cheer for even if he's not the best SS solution. Multiple time Clemente Award nominee and extremely charitable guy. Will be a great addition to the community

What a long Strange off-season it has been.

You could have given this board 800 guesses about who they would sign for SS and I am pretty certain collectively we would not have come up with this scenario.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

First Reds player whose father was a character in both a Stephen King novel and pop-up book.

Our third bagman is a shortstop, but a bad one

Two of our outer fieldmen should be DH

And we are losing the best tosser in franchise history

This season is going to be FUN!

    Thank you very kindly #Joey
The best gimmicks are a TAD more subtle.

One "bagman" would have probably sufficed. Lol Outer fieldman. PS: There's no U in "major" in British English.

There is definitely somebody who is a tosser involved in your post though, you got that one bloody right, mate!
