Shogo Akiyama is back in #Reds camp. He missed 7 days while tending to a personal matter, not COVID related.

Also, Michael Lorenzen is scheduled to make his spring debut tomorrow against the Diamondbacks.

Shogo Akiyama revealed he was away from camp and in Cincinnati after his wife was in an accident. She was injured seriously but will be ok. #reds
Wow, that's awful. It's good news that she'll be "ok" but I guess that could mean almost anything.

Shogo Akiyama's wife was walking in a park when a tree fell on her. She was hospitalized, but he said she's better now. #Reds
How the heck does that even happen?

Perhaps Japanese trees are like those in the forest that never make sounds when nobody is around....

The local news story from last week about Mrs Akiyama's accident.
https://www.wlwt.comA woman injured by a falling tree at Sharon Woods is the wife of Cincinnati Reds outfielder Shogo Akiyama.
That tree fell Feb. 25 at the popular 730-acre park in Sharonville, toppling on top of Akaya Akiyama.
It happened on a shared-use trail between the Lakeside Lodge and the Kreis Dam.
Park rangers said a visitor on the other side of the trail heard the crash and called for help.
"If you walk about half-a-mile down the trail, a huge 30-inch tree just fell on a pedestrian and she needs an ambulance," a 911 caller said. "It just fell over out of no where right in the middle of the path."
That caller said Akaya Akiyama was not trapped under the tree, but was bleeding from the side of her head.
She was taken by helicopter to an area hospital. Shogo Akiyama confirmed Thursday that his wife is still recovering, but is doing better.
Shogo Akiyama, 32, reported to the Reds' spring training facility for the first time Thursday. He had been noticeably absent from spring training, attending to a personal matter.

Spooky because my wife and I walk Sharon Woods a lot and I know that trail from the lodge to the dam.
I’ve a lot of hiking and have seen a lot of limbs, etc fall and trees fall but I’ve managed to dodge them so far.
Hope she will be ok.
She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning

Wow! Talk about being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Hope she’s okay. Sounds like it could have been disastrous.
