    Grade the Reds' offseason

I like to do this poll every year (but I don't always remember) to get a pulse of the board.
Yes, it's still possible the Reds might make some more moves, but let's grade them on what they have done so far. If they make a significant move after you vote, you can add a message saying you are changing the grade.

For me, it's a clear F. I really don't care if it's Krall or ownership's fault, but this team had enough potential to do something beyond signing Dolittle. I will leave it at that, as I have given my opinion on many other threads.
And this is the first F I have given them in a long time (IIRC).
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

Nothing significant happened to improve the team from last season to this season and the Cy Young winner is no longer part of the team, F.

I said D. The additions to the pen could pay dividends and Gordon could surprise, so I didn’t go straight F. I hope I’m proven terribly wrong and can apply sometimes the best moves are the ones you didn’t make mantra.

Clear cut F. Big step back from last year. I think I have a B last year which makes this even more disappointing.

I said "D-" but not 100% failure. Let's hope the spring is better for this team.

    Re: Grade the Reds' offseason

I voted F. My reason is because F- wasn't an option.

The team as it stands has gone backwards in all phases. Pitching lost Bauer, Iglesias and Bradley with no proven replacements, only questionmarks, though I am optimistic about Doolittle.

The defense will suffer from the loss of the DH and forcing yet another no glove bat onto the field while there have been no improvements at other areas,. I also think the tandem catcher spot has been weakened defensively by the loss of Casali and the OF defensive specialist Goodwin was non-tendered and likely to be replaced by a corner man in either Payton, Aquno, Delmonco or Smith. The SS position has gone from bad to worse.

The offense has had no additions, will lose one of its mainstays when some one has to sit due to the loss of the DH and there was no action to retrofit the team to fill holes and get players who fit better.

This was barely a play-off team to begin with (and only got in by a rule change) and now they are worse in every area with no young building blocks added in the process of all the talent exiting town. It's the worst possible off-seasson I could have imagined. They kept status quo in places they should not have and the changes they did make have all been significant, immediate downgrades and they didn't really get any youngeror improve the outlook for the future. What a nightmare. .

    Fail (so far)

This offseason (so far) resembles the unproductive offseasons before the '14 and '18 seasons, respectively, when it was painfully obvious that the status quo in both cases could not continue.

When this franchise desperately required Krall to channel his inner Krivsky mode - read: start attacking problems with vigor - he's instead channeled the turtle-like pace of Dan O'Brien and, sorry to state this, Williams from '16 -'18 in regards to addressing the MLB roster.

    D.

Only reason it’s not an F is I like some of the bullpen acquisitions. It feels like an F, though.

Feels like one to me too. But you never know. I think some of the arms brought in for the pen may surprise.

Fangraphs gives us a less than 20% chance to make the 2021 postseason.

The only reason I gave us a D is because of the announcement that Barry Larkin will be announcing 81 games.

D- only because they didn't move the team to another city.

I've never seen a poll here more negative. Hopefully someone from ownership sees this and gets a reality check.
