Don't know about Kingman. That career .236 BA and .302 OBP are hard to overlook. But Allen and McGriff were hitting machines, aside from the HRs.

Yeah, Kingman wasn't in those other two guys' league.

It's too late now for him to get to enjoy it, but I was hoping the veterans committee would fix the Allen HOF situation. He deserves to be in.

I think Votto gets in either way, but a season like this one - and perhaps closing out his career in 22-23 providing flashes of greatness - starts putting him in the "no-doubter" conversation.

Plus, despite some really obvious mental blunders out there these past few seasons, he's remained a solid defender and has become a more vocal leader on a winning team. He's an easy HOFer.

So, I was told that as he began his run down the first-base line after his second-inning homer last night, #Reds Joey Votto was actually singing this. True freaking story. @phildunster

I remember Joe Garagiola saying that Dave Kingman was going to be the first player in major-league history to hit 400 HR's and not get into the HOF.

And he was right.
